LORE:                                                                                                                                  From the Roman "rose of the sea".  Strengthens the brain and helps with memory.  Culpepper used rosemary to "quicken the senses".

Rosemary is used as a healing herb. Wear a garland of rosemary to prevent head colds. Smoke to ease coughs and consumption. 

It was considered protection against disease. It was burned with juniper to purify the air.

In Italy and Spain, it was used as a protection against the evil eye and malevolent spirits. 

Rosemary is the herb of love, fidelity, and friendship. Wreaths of rosemary were placed on coffins and sprigs worn by mourners. 

RECIPE:  ROSEMARY WINE

Fresh flowers or dried rosemary are added to white wine and infused for a few days. Strain and rebottle. 

MAGICKAL USES:                                                                                                                        Rosemary is a rites of passage herb, used at birth, marriage and death. Use a sprig to sprinkle holy water for a blessing.  Add to a handfasting chalice, add to marriage garlands or incense and give each guest a bunch of rosemary tied with a red ribbon to help remember the deceased with pleasure.

Rosemary is traditionally cast into a bonfire during memorial rites.

Use as a cleansing herb and to repel negativity. Use in floor washes as an infusion to purify your home. Or hang a sprig in the home.

Rosemary tea restores psychic energies.

To attract and please the fae, burn rosemary as an incense. May be smoked for journeys into the faery realms.
