LORE:     In Greek mythology, Adonis was killed in a walnut grove by a wild boar.  Aphrodite, his lover, petitioned to the Gods to allow him to live on Earth in Spring and Summer.

Apollo gave the gift of prophecy to the 3 daughters of King of Laconia, Dion. The youngest was the lover of Bacchus and the other daughters were jealous to misused walnut. Apollo turned the 2 sisters to stone and the youngest into a walnut tree. 

Legends tell of witches gathering under a walnut tree in Italy. Baratus, the Christian saint, ordered the tree to be cut down. But whenever the witches danced, a new tree appeared. 

RECIPES:  Boil with honey and water to make a gargle for sore throats.        

MAGICKAL USES:       Carry walnut to enhance fertility and ward off rheumatism. 

Eat to cure madness (!) Wear around a hat to prevent headaches and sunstroke. If you are gifted walnuts your wishes will come true. 

Walnuts help see your true path and remove blockages of indecision. Eat to connect with inner self and nourish the soul. 

A yellow dye, made from the green husks, can be used to dye ritual robes and chords in Sun ceremonies and rituals.
