White Willow Bark - Organic

BOTANICAL NAME:    Salix species

OTHER NAMES:   Withy, Osier, Saille, Sally

MOON/FEMININE/WATER

LORE:   The Moon governs the sea, tides, emotions and the sacred feminine. The Moon on its monthly journey relates to the feminine, while the Sun on its daily journey is considered masculine. 

"Witch" is derived from the root word for willow. Witches' besoms are made with an ash stake and birch twigs with willow binding. Willow is sacred to Hekate, Goddess of Witches and the Underworld. 

An old Celtic tradition is tying "clouties" to willow trees near wells and rivers for healing and granting of wishes. 

RECIPE:  WILLOW TEA 

2 TPS willow bark      1/2 pt cold water

Soak the bark for 4 hours. Pour into a saucepan and bring to the boil. Simmer for 20 mins. Strain and drink.

MAGICKAL USES:  As the tree of water, the Underworld, poetry, death, witches, moon, birth and the feminine White Willow Bark is used to strengthen intuition and inspiration,.  As plant of death and rebirth, it is used in initiations to rid one of negative aspects of personality.
